Just curious. Why do the young silkies seem to have such oily feathers? I thought mine had overactive oilers till I got two new ones yesterday.

oops my quess on that was wrong I was thinking roo because of the tall posture and the slick-back, comb-over look on the head.
I still like to try guessing since I am just learning.
 
I'll see if I can get some pics of mine in a bit. The little roo has a rough dark red texture on his comb. Don't know what you call that in silkies yet. My girl looks much like your photo
