Congratulations!! Keep us updated!Hi Silkiers!
I set six eggs...my one Frizzled egg quit on me midway, grrr...have three that have hatched on day 20 and the remaining two have pipped! The last time I tried hatching a Silkie egg (an 'extree' from a Rhodebar breeder...I ended up with a Frizzled POLISH, lol!)
Finally...squeeeeeeeee!
I will be back after they dry as I am unsure of two's color(?)
Aww, bless you for saving those birds! SO happy to hear they are living the good life now! The amount of fluff on them is unbelievable!I bought them from someone that gave little thought to their care and looked to me as though he was running a "chicken" mill as opposed to the puppy mills..so to say the least the plumage on the head is clumped n off whiteI'd just like them to be cleaned up, but safely!![]()
Yours are beautiful!! I have bought, off the same guy, black beard silkies..speckled.. and 25 other exotic breeds for show n breeding. These were blue ribbon winners so I bought them for a good price as I bought out the remainder of his business and started my own. I saved these birds from an unhappy life and happy to have done so, they also saved me!! These chicks are gorgeous and will be treated as pets and fed organicallyI just bought a large shed with a gigantic run! I have Cemani chicks coming soon! It's a good business for me as I love all animals! Nurturing is what I do best..with animals!!![]()
What color is the silkie, I believe in the middle pic? Well kept silkies!! Thank you for your reply, but I still need to know his to clean my not so well kept adoptees.
Oh My Gosh the little white one!!! looks exactly like my silkie Yukon!!Aww, bless you for saving those birds! SO happy to hear they are living the good life now! The amount of fluff on them is unbelievable!
What state are you located in?
Okay so here's the story about my silkies. Apologies in advance for the huge picture spam!
The breeder had a few hens sharing the nest boxes so she is unsure of who laid my chicks but she believes the mother
to the one's in the middle (the white one's with black lines on their back and two black dots on their head):
This is definitely the father:
Here are updated pictures I took last night! My two Easter Egger's and Australorp are also in there.
I know how a total of 5 silkies: The two white one's with black on them that the breeder called "paint" although I think they may be splash?
(I bought them because they are just so unique! I'm excited to see how they turn out. If anyone has any idea to how they may look or what color they may be, please let me know!) I have one lavender one, one blue, and one white!
I think the two "paint" one's may have a bit of the frizzle gene because their feathers are no straight. They kind of curl up not not a lot either.
@Fancychooklady, you'll silkies are so pretty!!
It's nearly fall here.
Do you have any pictures? I'd love to see!Oh My Gosh the little white one!!! looks exactly like my silkie Yukon!!
Thank you!! I took more pictures today so I'll spam again in a few minutes hehe@Exotica lovely pics and your birds are so cute! Congrats!
