Any help much appreciated!!

Looks like a girl so far!

looks girl to me too so far. i had 5 silkie chicks and sent in DNA of two to a place in davis! it was $25 each..i just couldn't wait to find out so i went for it! they were both girls so i just sold the others. This is who i kept. she is a self blue and these are babies she hatched out from some fertile eggs i gave her.

Thank you! I sure do hope so!!
I have a question, does anyone know if partridges can be sexed by color pattern? I remember a few people mentioning that my partridge silkie is probably female because of her pattern. That seems a little too good to be true. I thought that color sexing does not apply to silkies?
I tried researching this and just cannot find any articles about it.

I went to a breeder on the day some Partridge babies hatched and she just grabbed two chicks out of the incubator and set them aside for me in a brooder. We couldn't tell any difference in their color pattern and one turned out a roo. So, from my personal experience, I'd say there's no sexing by color.

I didn't think there was, however more than a few people have referred to the color patterns as they age as a determinization as to the sex. I just find it strange that I can't find any info on the Internet regarding this.
Thank for your input!!

Does anyone else have silkies trying to brood this time of year? All of my silkie hens are trying to brood again, but I don't know if I should let them, because of it being Winter.

My silkies went broody in the winter sometimes. I didn't let them hatch anything because of the cold
Do you think it would be ok, if I let them brood then as soon as they hatch steal the babies and put them in a little tub with a heat lamp in the house?? Or should I just keep not letting them brood?

I just had one broody until last Friday. She had one egg under her, and was extremely committed. Then on Friday she just wasn't interested and walked off the nest. I candled the egg and it looked fully developed, but I didn't see any movement. I did later open it up, and there was a fully formed chick, but it hadn't absorbed the yolk sac. I don't know whether the chick died and she abandoned it, or she bailed, and then the chick died. Sad either way. I won't let her do that again. I keep the coop heated enough to keep the water from freezing - 35 to 40 degrees.
