Here goes, been a while since I uploaded a pic to the site. Notice how it looks more like she's wearing a bonnet? With careful trimming she can be made to look more like what is acceptable. But I'm on my way outside now to give her a good trimming so she can see the world around her.

Thanks Robin. From what I am gathering, and I may be wrong here, her crest seems to be flatter in the front with indents on the sides? The more desireable look would be rounded, like a pom-pom? I sure hope the vault/sexing thing is true, one of the partridges has a huge vault.

If I could have caught her face on you would see three distinct divisions. The top poof and two side poofs. And while I was at it I took new photos of most everyone. Now to make the time upload them to my website.

I've been thinking on that sex thing, I think it was Sonoran that found the information in some study.

Could be true will some lines but not all. The first picture is my chick and the second is the same chick at almost two years old. My rooster.

I do think there is some truth to that.

The ones with the crest shaped like that? Ever notice when the blink their eyes the feathers go up and down. Looks like some big eyelashes. I think its hilarious. /Cute

Thank you, he is the sweetest think. It did take a year before he breed because when a hen started squcking he would stop.
Head shot

Wow! He's a handsome dude!! Seems all theories that I have heard when applied to different lines. With my Marans, I have two feathering in totally different. One looked for sure like a pullet at 4 days old, one looked like a little roo. Both are roos. Big comb versus little comb/wattles, same thing, doesn't mean squat around here.

So far, 7 have hatched, 7 more are pipping! Two whites, one black, two partridge, one buff, and one I'm not sure? Was marked as White, but it has a silver color to it on the head and parts of the body, with very light patches of an almost rosy colored buff. Does that make any sense to anyone?

I kind of hope the vault thing isn't true for me. One of the Partridge chicks has a big vault, and reminds me of Kramer from the Seinfeld show!
