I guess the person who originally replied was probably looking at their uneven crests. Pullets are usually more round, like the second bird you posted (which I think is a girl). The first one looks like a boy. I won't even hazard a guess on the bearded birds yet, they're a lot harder to sex. I can usually tell what mine are somewhere around 4-6 months old. Before then, it's all just guessing.
