Silkie thread!

Yes. A white silkie is pure white even young. I think A buff can come in different shades of light and dark and yours appears to be on the lighter side.

Very cute :)

White silkies can hatch ' smutty ' but are generally yellowish. :)

These are al pure white.

Probably a male. My silkie hens combs are not even visible.

Oh dear... I don't intend on keeping any males... I know it's bound to happen with a straight-run of 9...

My chickies will be 9 weeks old on Sunday, are all about a foot tall, and the majority have their combs and/or wattles (wattles are either short or the size of dimes).

Interesting and cool. My first silkie hatch all of my white ones had white as the driven snow feathers right away, and my buffs were off white. I wonder why some start off white vs yellow

Yes you are bound to run into Roos unfortunately. I ended up with 50/50 even Roos and hens. 3 of my Roos that didn't play nice in the coop with the girls got the boot. Now they are free range during the day annoying the neighbors :p

If they aren't bearded , wattles are far more visible. Some pics would help . :) . Red combs are not a desirable trait for showing , but do pop up in the breed .

My new Silkie and Frilkie girls. The Buff one I've named Taylor (Schilling, not Swift) and the Black Frilkie is going to be a present for my mom. She's had a lonely Sizzle rooster for a few months now and has been looking for a hen for him. Funny enough these are actually the hens he used to live with - the owner rehomed her two Roos with us a few months back and came back this week to drop these off because they were lonely without other chickens of their same size.
