Silkie thread!

Sweet mama! I bet it's fun just observing her with her babies. I know when my call duck hatched her babies last year it was so fun to just sit and watch. I'm switching to silkies but I don't think I'll get the chance as having a roo probably isn't a good idea living in a subdivision. Are they blue/splash/white babies?

It is so much fun watching them run around with mom. As far as colors, daddy is splash, but the mom's are white, paint, splash and black. The babies look to be dark blue, splash and white. One of the white looking ones has a black dot on it so it could be a paint. Sure hope it is a paint.

One of my silkies this morning that I thought was a hen started crowing his head off this morning. What's weird is that it'll fly up into my arms and he loves to be pet. I hope that doesn't change. He's also one of my biggest silkies with what I think is another roo about his size and another roo much mallet than him.

I love the paint. I lost my beloved paint to a hawk last November and have searching since. I have a 4- week old that isn't marked very well AND appears not to be bearded like the breeder told me it was. They seem to incredibly difficult to find. I know a different breeder but she is big into showing and doesn't give any up although I can't imagine her showing all her hatchlings. If your chick's spots ho all the way to the skin it's probably a paint.

Sorry you lost your paint, they are my favorite color of the silkies. The black spots on the white baby are faint, so don't know for sure just how painted she/he will be. I would love to get some paint chicks or hatching eggs myself. But like you said they are hard to locate.
