Silkie thread!

I just saw him get both legs under him and he limped to the food, pecked twice then fell over and went to sleep, so the leg is working, just maybe injured.

It really does sound like it's an injury. Maybe just a pulled tendon, and it may heal just fine in time. Make sure that the baby keeps eating and drinking. Give some vitamen poly if you have some. Very little..very little. A tiny drop just a couple of times a day. :) Good luck.

Was he scraping his head on it? I had two roosters get in a fight and do that to each other. I cleaned them off carefully then put ointment (bacitracin) on them for the first day. Head feathers take a while to grow back but chickens heal fast.

Combs scab over pretty quick and look nasty from even the smallest scratches. Some of my dominate large fowl EE girls will pull the single combed brown layers out of the favorite nest box by their comb. It bleeds a little and looks bad, but it heals up very quickly.

I agree kelly, must have been scraping his head on the front trying to get out. I suggested some poly vitamin while ago to someone else..do the same for this guy. Just a little bit twice a day.

Sounds like you are putting some good stuff on that sore area. And I also agree with the healing fast. You will be surprised. :)

Can someone please tell me what to do blue was in chicken jail for being a bad rooster!! At some point he did this to his self!! I brought jail in the house so I can keep a closer eye on him but idk what else I should do!!

Are you sure that another rooster couldn't get to him? I've had them fighting through the fence and one ripped the others comb off. Spray with a good wound care product, I use Terramycin and the others have stated , as long as the flies are kept off and infection doesn't set in, it should heal quickly.

yes because I had the cage in a bigger cage to not let the hens get to close!! also my other rooster only fights with him to tell him he is being to rough with the hens he is very sweet!! All blue cares about is breeding my friend said its his teens and you have to teach him!! i think the cold can play a roll to its only 10 outside now!!

Omg he or she lol was standing on his own and eating. This makes me so happy. He hasn't done that in 4 days. He's still wobbly but uses his wings to stabilize. I bought a chick electrolyte/probiotic mix for their water and he's been drinking that for 3 days now. So much stress and worry for all these little chicks

So glad you haven't lost him! One drop (only one drop) of children's no-iron Poly-Vi-Sol liquid vitamin drop on the side of his beak (he'll lick it up) once a day to make sure it's not a vitamin deficiency. After he gets better you can stop the daily Poly-Vi-Sol. I use Poly-Vi-Sol during times of adult stress -- brooding, molting, illness, heatwaves, cold spells, or injuries. My vet always stresses to me at every office visit to use vitamins for my chickens. Our adult chickens get Rooster Booster vitamins added to their regular feed but I will use Poly-Vi-Sol additionally during stress times.

That's good news , some chicks just take a little while longer to get up and get going. Go easy on the supplements though , you can over do it.
