Silkie thread!

I'm just going on what the people in the thread I posted told me, honestly.

If he's a pullet I'd be just as happy to have him... I mean her, LOL.

He's around 2 months old, that's how old they have to be to sell them in NH unless you want twelve chickies.


Ahh I'm very glad he appears to be full silkie. Should he have a beard? Or is it simple desired that they have them?

WOW. Those pics make me wonder if my little cochin mutt isn't mixed with a silkie now... LOL. I can tell tho that Nuts a roo, his comb is BRIGHT red..

Can anyone say "less stupid laws?" What is the purpose of having to buy 12 chicks instead of three or six or 11? Let me guess the towns around there let you have 3 chickens max, right? Grrr... Can't we just apply safety, cruelty, and nuisance laws already on the books and be done with it....ie If it isn't unsafe, cruel or really annoying to more than two neighbors three out of four days...get the hell out of my property? (sorry had to vent)

Actually, I take it all back. If we go by unsafe they'll take away my bed because it is more than a 6 inches off the ground...I might fall and get a boo boo...

Your chick looks just like an unbearded black silkie I got from a western US hatchery last spring.It took her a year to fluff up a bit & get a little bit of a crest,totally unlike the fluffy silkies I had previously purchased from a MW US hatchery the year before.....She Still looks ragged at a year of age, but healthy.

I can have as many animals as I want, not sure about other cities in the state. The law is to keep people from buying one or two chicks for their kids during Easter because they are cute and fluffy... I'm sure you all know the story, cute chicks don't stay what most people would consider cute, so they are gotten rid of or heavily abused. Though I do wish the law was like 6, instead of 12.

So can we agree that he's a non-bearded hatchery quality silkie? or at least if he's a mix he's mostly silkie, lol?
