Silkie thread!

Poor Sophie, She got attacked by one of my LF while free ranging. I found her laying under the rain with a big hole on her head. She seemed petrified! I brought her inside, disinfected the wound with some iodine and later some blue kote. I put her in a plastic bin for a few hours inside the house and tried to put her back to her coop with the other silkies. She wouldn't move, tucking her head on the side, so I just brought her back inside where it's warmer. I will try tomorrow to put her back it.
I am so sorry about this. Hope she recovers quickly.

Poor girl :( do you know who the bully is? Hope she feels much better tomorrow.

Poor Sophie. That happened to my teensiest little Silkie, a pullet named Micro. She developed signs of brain damage and I euthanized her over the weekend. I sure hope Sophie does better than my Micro.

My hubby got me a great new camera, as I've been using an iPad for a camera for almost 2 years, and I hope to post photos of me of mine. I have to learn to offload the photos first, lol.

I have two silkies that are 22 weeks old and neither has started crowing or laying. If they were roos would they have already started to crow??

Not necessarily. Could be they crow softly, but not when people are around, could be they don;t crow at all--intimidated by an older roo. Could be they are still developing. Or could be that they are pullets, and will never crow.

Here are some pics of my pullets? roos? Don't know yet. Again 22 weeks old. The only sound I ever really hear from either of them is a loud cry when they get separated from the flock. Both are pretty low on the totem poll and get picked on by the others. They usually sleep on the ladder into the hen house because the larger birds won't let them in. I usually have to move the others so they can go in. The black, Peeps, is a bearded and only started developing a comb a couple of weeks ago. The buff, Gertie, is a non-bearded and again only started developing comb and wattles a couple of weeks ago.
