What's a good feed for Silkies? I have some that I'd like to show in April and I changed them off the layer pellet to a 16% crumble. I'm not really sure what else to add in there to help them out. I've been reading all sorts of things but my head is starting to spin.
I never was good at any of this nutrition stuff...humans or animals.
I mixed up some shell less sunflower seed in the crumble. I was also told flax seed is good for them. Now the problem is, I don't know what any of this is. I do know that the sunflower seed is a good source of protein. What does the flax seed do?
Oh, a woman I bought some Cochins from, recomended this for a feed: 20% crumble (which our feed store didn't sell), Sea Kelp concentrate, Flax Seed, Wheat Germ, and Brewers yeast.
How's that for a mix?
I also read all the fermented feed -talk you guys had in this thread. I don't want to start up on that sort of a 'project' just yet and confuse our staff.
It's not rocket science if I were to make the feed, all they have to do is feed the birds, but sometimes even a simple task like that that seems very difficult for some people around here.
