Love your Lavs also the new chicks are doing great!

Sure! Hay is fine if that is what you have on hand. Packed shavings are fine, they will just add even more insulation to the bottom of the coop.

I think you have asked about the age of the white silkie chick from the Congress? I know that Stoopid and Marquesilla(spellng?) were bringing silkies and other breeds of chicks. If you contact them, one may be able to help you.

I also prefer walk in coops. My daughter and sister are disabled and it is very easy for them to go in the coop and enjoy the chickens. I find a walk in coop to be so much easier on my back. It is really fun and therapeutic to sit out with the chickens.

I also prefer the walk in coops! I love sitting in there with all of my babies. We hand feed them. Hold them for hours. And there are at t least three chairs in there to sit. They have a small closed off coop they lay eggs in and it is in the yard that is fenced all the way around and 8 feet high and then roof has chicken wire in it to protect them when they are grazing!

You have such lovely babies!

Just gorgeous!

Adorbs!

I have an appointment to pick up eggs and breeders from Catdance Silkies next month. I am beside myself with anticipation for the hatching and raising such cutie pie chicks again after nearly a twenty year absence.
How exciting for you... I had an 8 yr Miniature Horse diversion and am getting back to Silkies full swing lol! Im sure you will love the birds you get from Karen. I just got a couple from her recently and am very happy with them. Just put some eggs from them and my others in the incubator a few days ago!

Quote: I would make a huge difference depending on whether you activated it or not. Definitely not if activated. If you haven't activated it, it should be helpful in the same way for humans as for animals. Also, the oxine should be quite diluted, and that could make a difference. If it hurt you to breathe in, it was not good for your birds.
