After what seemed like forever, I finally got my partridge Silkie chicks from Bobbi Porto. I am just thrilled!! They were hatched on New Year's Day :) I love them! They feathering on their feet is outrageous :)

OMG! I didn't think I was interested in Partridge until I saw her website just now! How beautiful! Lucky you!

My husband is a carpenter too.  I showed him the mid-life crisis coop and told him that is what I wanted.  He thought about it for about 2 - 3 weeks and surprised me with this:

We most of the material is refurbished.  We have stores near us called Restore that people donate their old or extra cabinets, wood, flooring, windows, lighting. He made the shingles from a job he did, it was old panelling or beadboard the owner had up. A lot of it is actually brand new - like the roofing shingles.  We also have a chandler inside and he painted a blue sky with clouds in the ceiling.  The outside pen is PVC tubing.  Originally we had netting over it, but it wasn't predator proof.  Now we have hardware cloth.  We are originally from the New England, so he wanted to bring a New England style coop to the midwest,
Oh my I am in love with your coop. Would he want to come and build me one,

If you all could just bare with me for a minute. I am trying to figure out the breed a bit...

1. What so you mean by showgirl? Or standard?

2. I know what SQ means, (show quality) but what does DQ mean?

I know there are many more ? to come but will ask as I think of them...
Also, for my personal crew, how long do you keep chicks on Probiotics & Electrolytes? And how bad is it to not offer regular water as well as the medicated?

A showgirl is one of those "naked neck" silkies. Standard is large fowl. Bantam is small fowl.
DQ is a disqualify in shows.
I don't give probiotics or elytes myself.

Joining in! Here is my little one napping in the food dish. Smart little girl not going too far from food! She's my first silkie and I love her so much. Very sweet and laid back. I want more silkies now! :)
