Mr. Snow Miser AKA "Snowball"

I'm not experienced enough to help you with your questions but they certainly do make a good looking couple.

Awwwww.

Quote: Six to eight weeks (at least) raising her babies, somewhere in that timeframe she will probably start laying again, and that will signal that she is about ready to abandon her chicklets. From then give her at least long enough to lay a clutch before she might go broody again. But it could be a lot longer as others have said.

So after about an hour and a half of trying to splint the toes with wooden skewers I gave up! I straightened the toes flat and then wrapped them with coban. I'll try that for a day to see if it helps.
Tape her foot flat, and with toes in the correct positions, you may need to use a piece of cardboard under her foot. Don't use vetwrap or coban; you need something with adhesive that will hold them in place. http://browneggblueegg.com/Article/CrookedFeet/CrookedFeet.html has a photo and instructions. Bandaid on top and bottom, cloth tape on top and bottom, duct tape on bottom and bandaid or cloth tape on top, etc. Even package tape will work. Just make sure that the "sole" of the shoe is not slippery.
Not sure how old the bird is...a week for a small chick, up to a couple of months for an older bird. Once they are mature I doubt that you can help.

. But has anyone ever seen a hen try to be dominant over a roo? Ice is standing over him and even jumped on him and pulled some feathers out! Is Ice really a girl? She kind of looks manly, but she has NO comb whatsoever or streamers. It is completely flat and smooth, with two miniscuel little horns on top. She's about 8 months old I think, the roo is a lot bigger than her and only 4 months old. Is she just a Bi**h? lol
Happens here ALL the time, especially with younger males. The rooster may rule the YARD, but the hens rule the coop and the rooster. The boys are allowed to rule the yard because the hens have too much real work to do, and they need to give those darn boys something to keep them occupied.

This is my pathetic attempt at helping this poor thing. All critiques and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated!!

She actually walked better without the brace between her legs. I'm not sure if I did it right or if she just needs to adjust. Question....My silkie hen keeps burying her eggs. What the heck? She lays about every other day and I always have to dig the things up. Is she hoarding them so she can set them later? Or is she just trying make me insane by sending me digging for buried treasure?
