Silkie thread!

Bruce Lee at 2 weeks. Does the quick feathering apply to silkue pullets as it does to Orpingtons?

The chick in the back is most likely a roo as the other 5 are feathering much faster.

I'm new to showing chickens and am about to start showing with my local 4H. I've contacted a breeder and this is what he has available. She's a 3.5-4 m/o pullet. What do you think? Is she worth the $55 he's asking?

I'm not an expert, still learning myself, but hard to tell much by those pictures. She seems to have a good crest, no split wings (at least the wing there's a picture of), lots of foot feathering. The foot picture is so blurry but I think her feet look good.
By those pictures, she looks like a nice little pullet.

Would the breeder be able to send you a side profile picture of this pullet? Something like this?

That would give you a better idea on her over all type.

For the price. I don't know much about the Silkie market, especially the whites. Hopefully someone can answer that question. As far as I know, $55 isn't a bad price for a good quality bird.

An image of the bird standing would be helpful. Have you seen this bird in person or just the provided images? I couldn't make a decision based on those images alone. Need to see the bird standing alone.

Sorry guys, not all Silkie babies but these are our Silkie hens taking care of chicks that we hatched in an incubator.

There's a little blue Silkie there!

I love these two broody hens. The white one doesn't look like much and the blue...she's ok...but they're the best darn broodies we have!

I started out with the white hen sitting on 4 eggs. Well...about 2 weeks later two other hens joined the pile and now that we had one egg hatch last night, they're all fighting over the chick! So I figured I'd try giving them these 5 day old chicks. It's all working out well so far. Chicks are happy. Moms are happy. I'm happy!

I am a brand new silkie owner and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what color this silkie is:

The person I purchased it from called it "smoke" so I wasn't sure if it was grey or splash or something else. :) thanks!

Definitely looks nice! I would just check out the tail and make sure it isn't crooked, it's hard to tell from the picture. Also make sure she has the correct amount of nails on each toe (1), they sometimes end up with double nails on one toe. Also, I would check the comb and make sure it is small, I have a cockerel who looks just like her and you can't tell he has a comb unless you pull his fluff back.
