when silkies hatch do they have the bump on their head or ??? and if you don't know what i mean . i mean the little bump of feathers that come out on their heads .. i never hatched silkies before and im gonna hatch some here soon from my own eggs .. i just got a broody hen well im pretty sure she is broody

If they have vaulted skulls yes.

Not always though.

thanks justine ... remember that chick i got that is rudys chick with the feathered legs and 5 toes she is starting to get a bump on her head in the middle so it would have been cool it if was pure bred so i was wondering if they hatched out with the bump because this chick is just starting to get a little bump on her head

That chick didn't have a vaulted skull. If it had a parent with a crest, it will get a small crest - but it was not a pure chick. The legs were yellow.

Your polish x houdan mixes do have vaulted skulls.. well at least a few of them did.

I'm getting a new pair of silkies today!! I have to meet her at 10:30 i'm extactic! Here's pics she sent. then I went yesterday to check again to make sure when the silkie babies are coming in at my local feed store (they are so going to know me by name)

and they are coming in later today or possibly early tomorrow instead of Saturday. so I am two for two woot woot.

That chick didn't have a vaulted skull. If it had a parent with a crest, it will get a small crest - but it was not a pure chick. The legs were yellow.

There are some Splash that are darker than others, but they are all splash, and are genetically Blue. If you see the term Blue Splash, they are using it incorrectly from what I've gathered from Genetics gurus on here.

Thank you for making this point!!! It makes me crazy... Splash has to have two blue genes.. there is no black splash!!! and blue splash is just "splash" It makes thing so confusing to people to use all these different terms. I

Yes it is something I see often. Almost bothers me as much as EEs being called Americanas.

I love them as well! I have a blue pair, and I am looking forward to getting some splashes out of them.

already started trying to crow i never had that before ... my 2 that i kept are doing good the oldest one is getting big im pretty sure it is a girl i can go get a pic for you right now if you want or take a pic of them all .. the ducklings i kept are starting to get feathers but the feathers are a weird looking brown

We do all have our own little pet peeves dont we

I dont have EEs or Americanas...or are they Americaunas I never know which but DO see people not liking them mixed up and then throw in the Arauacana, yikes!
