Silkie thread!

I'd say cocky rather than aggressive.

I had 4 of them, only one was like that. A friend of mine has one of the brothers, and he is also like that. On the Houdan thread, a lot of others (pretty much everyone I recall) had one like that.
ya mine is sure cocky lol he wont attack me anymore but he attacks everyone else im afraid to keep him because my grand father said if he had an axe with him he would have chopped his head off lol so im not sure what to do i try to get him to stop but i think he knows who is scared of him because he only goes after them ... if he charges at people i step in front of him and act like another bigger rooster i charge at him and stomp my feet around and then he will leave me alone but i think he gets more angry when people try to kick him in the butt because he holds grudges people who were a little more mean and tried to kick him he will always go after them goes around the other people and just goes after that person .. im not sure what to do with him if i do what you did with yours do you think he will settle down some .. i think he is more like this because my other big roosters pick on him so he is not very high in the pecking order and doesn't get much hens so i think he might be attacking people to show he is dominate .. because he will not stand down someone (my age) was at my grand fathers with me and houdini started chasing him and the guy turned around to try to stop him but houdini wouldn't back down until the guy ran over to me then houdini went away

my hen started laying at around 9 months old but my friend who i bought them from said it is different depending on the month they were born in .. i just put in 10 eggs to hatch .. 8 eggs are from my blue hen and she is mated by a buff based partridge based rooster what colors can i get from them ?? i put 2 eggs in from my black hen and silver partridge rooster they both carry the normal partridge color in them

Nola Chick my silkies are great jumpers and I built roost for them but they decided to roost with my barred rock so they jump from place to place to get the highest roost.

Sanna, maybe if your splash boy starts making some pretty splash babies, I can have one, and we can then compete them against eachother!

If Marbles is actually a girl, and she comes out looking like a superstar, what would your splash and her being a blue produce?
Sure! I'd love to see more splashes showing.
I should be able to move Mr. Ace and his ladies to a breeding pen in 2 weeks. I'm waiting for our blacksmith to take his chickens back home, then I'll hog that pen for my silkies. lol Then I can start collecting eggs in another 2 weeks, so hopefully in 2 months time I'll have lots of Ace babies running around!
Blue and splash bred together will produce 50% blue and 50% splash chicks. That's what you'd get out of Ace x Marbles cross.

Nova Scotia :) They are Pickles & Patty. Pickles is a boy for sure. Started crowing at 10 days old. Patty is yet to be determined, but I always thought girl.. Has small nares compared to her brother.
For what it's worth, I think Horace is a girl. Small nares, skinny legs, and upright hairdo. But that stance is so boy!

Be prepared. Houdan males are known shin kickers. They are cowards too. They wait until your back is turned. So really they are calf kickers.

They can be trained out of this with stern management. I do not recommend cuddling your male houdans. This makes them so not afraid of you and even more saucy. :p

Gigi.. Boy was he a saucy boy. He was also incredibly paranoid. He always thought someone was following him, and would flip out. So I put his hair up. I think that is why he hated us ;)

He never kicked me. He did my fiance, and my neighbour (who kicked him back and adored Gigi.. 1 week after he kicked him, he went back over and just hung out with the neighbour. The neighbour even named him!)
The crest cracks me up!

He even looks like a nasty patty.

I was so happy to find a silkie when I went to my local feed store. It was so fluffy and cute when it was a baby. I thought all silkies looked the same, except for different colors.

Now I know different since reading this thread and looking thru BYC. I realize now that my baby is just a hatchery chick and wont get as fluffy as most of the ones on here. I was really hoping for a big ball of fluff but I do love my little baby. I told my hubby that it just means that I def have to get more later.
