Silkie thread!

Does anyone know of any Silkie breeders in South/East Georgia, Northern Florida or Southern South Carolina? I would really like to get a pure silkie (I have 2 silkie/cochin bantam crossed babies), but I don't have the ability to hatch eggs, and don't need to buy an extreme amount either.

do you guys think the baby on the left will be a salmon?

I can't tell what colors these chicks are. I don't know if they're buff with spots on their heads. And I'm wondering about the one on the right, which has a darker color on it's back? Maybe someone will know.
Breeding for colors, the only colors you can breed together are blue, black and splash. The rest, to my knowledge, you should just stick with white to white, black to black, partridge to partridge etc...

I'm pretty sure your blue is a blue. The black ones could be black or just really dark blue. Difficult to say with the color and quality of pictures.

I hope you have fun with your silkies!

Thanks. I was debating if the lighter one was buff or not, but I think the darker brown is partridge. It has markings on the feathers coming in on its wings. The 4 blacks are all pretty black in person, so I was pretty sure on them and the whites. I'm not breeding for show or color, so they will probably produce some funny colors next year depending on which are roosters and who gets to stay. Any helpful sites on chicken color genetics?

Update on my neighbor's raccoon... So, yesterday I didn't let the my remaining 3 5-6 month olds out until mid-morning with the plans of putting them back in the coop mid-afternoon. Should be way outside hunting times for coons. WRONG!! :barnie At 1:00 straight up, I hear a ruckus, look out the window to see the rotten little varmint running off with my white cockerel. R U KIDDING ME?!?  I race out the front door to chase him but wasn't fast enough. By the time I got outside I was only able to see him going over the fence into "his" backyard with my baby. Now Alice is gone too. I was sooooo upset!! My girlfriend and DH did their best to console me. :hit Last evening we decided to live trap the coon on our own and take him out into the country and release him on the QT. I planned to lok today for a trap I can barrow. Low and behold, 12:15 this afternoon and I hear the chicken alarms go off. (The 2 remaining birds are on lockdown with the 6-week olds now.) I run out back and there he is...back for thirds. REALLY!?! It's broad daylight for Pete's sake. :he I chased him off and went straight to my feed store to get a trap. Now I'm ready for the little so and so.
So sorry, how awful! poor guy. :(

Got some pics of one of my porcelain girls here - Meet "Her Majesty". I just love this girl, she is not even a year old yet and just to die for. Also got some new pics of our paint girl Duchess and our blue partridge chick being super cute and sun bathing in the yard. Her Majesty got her name from her Holier than Thou demeanor. She is super sweet and friendly but it should be viewed as a privilege to even be in her presence. Duchess of course was named due to the fact she is very social and sweet but very high and mighty the way she carries herself. Our blue partridge chick I am still not quite sure what gender is on them, but either way I am sure we will find a suitable name for them as well. The baby is such a sweet heart, curled up on my lap and took a mini cat nap in the yard yesterday. We are due for a small hatch from the BBS pen. Looking forward to playing and loving on some new babies... :)
Beautiful
Well, my three silkies are 3 months old today. How old are they before the roosters stick out obviously? None of these have any sign of comb or waddles. That is if you can get the fluff out of the way enough to even see their faces. I am beginning to think I ended up with three hens. No crowing yet either.

All the beautiful photography I am seeing here made me suck it up this morning and take some real photos (no photos from my iPhone)
