Silkie thread!

You didn't post a photo showing hte crookedness, but it is likely to be something you can get rid of by carefully trimming his beak--probably over a few weeks or months time. He's a very attractive boy; reminds me of some of SilverSilkie's birds.
my friend aoxa said his mother had a crooked beak but she said she gets some good ones from his mother so i guess it will pass through sometimes and other times it wont because other chicks from his mother have a normal beak .. its like a tilt to the left pretty much not like a cross beak i don't know what you call the cross beak

I put Zeek in the outer yard today so the hens and some of the peeps came out and had a very much enjoyed dust bath.
Not the best pics had to take them thru wire I also warped the ramp with wire so no chicks could fall off it I don't need another broke foot.

Could the dog have ran her up in the woods?

Did you look real good in the tall grass and bushes? Or anywhere she could be broody. I hope she comes back. Watch for that dog to be back.

Trees will not prevent hawk attacks.  However, a hawk attack will almost always leave feathers.  She might have hidden or be broody, although they usually build at least a small clutch of eggs before going broody.  Is it possible the dog got her and carried her off, then dropped her before you saw it?

Our property is a mix of single trees, small groupings of trees, and tall weeds so thick I barely walk through them... I hope she's hiding up somewhere safe. I guess it is possible another dog got her and I didn't see it. I searched my neighbors pasture and neighbors yards really well but can't even find a single feather. I'm just really stumped on this one because I'm an avid hunter and tracker and can't even find a single clue to go on. It's like she just vanished into thin air.

I did check under some of our older trees with low hanging branches and didn't see any signs.

I feel so bad!

I've had broodies that were EXTREMELY good at hiding. As in you could be a couple of feet from the nest, diligently looking for it and still miss it.

I hope so too! Maybe you can go looking for her again.

This poor baby ain't feeling too good. She's been really light weight and sleepy. I've got her bundled up in my lap right now.
