I read that and started laughing at my desk (I'm at work) because I've done things like that knowing I look like a crazy person. I have a pullet that is like that. Very persistent.

I probably did look like a nut job out there swearing with a rake in hand . And he is a silkie so it probably looked like I was arguing with the air. Lol

Your Silkies are laying dark eggs, that's for sure!  Isn't it neat how those small chickens can lay such a large egg for their size? Your Orp better start laying bigger eggs to go with their big bodies!

They are or orps eggs...I saw her lay them. I can't understand why our orps are laying different sizes and colors?
The other little ones are from the silkies!

I too have a Pullet that is mean and attacks me, pecks very hard and flocked at me. She peaked me so hard this morning she broke the skin. She is a Buff Orpington so she's huge! I am so done with her.

Well it's been 48 hours since I got the duramycin for my girl that can't open her eyes. I've been helping her eat and drink the past few days, and today I got most if not all of the crust off of her eyes. But she still will not open them.. Is there anything else I can do.

So far I have used saline drops on her eyes
Given her duramycin 10 ( giving her 3 of the 1/4 teaspoon measurements per quart of water)
She is in her own brooder and is pooping normal
She is very thin, but I'm glad I can get her to eat.

I really like the eye drop gel that starts with a "T". I'm not much help right now, because I can't find my bottle! They sell it at my feed store. Good stuff. It's been mentioned in this thread, the name of it.

I just added a new roo. The hens hated him for about 2 weeks. I started by letting them out in the morning and keeping him in the pen. Problem is they started laying eggs all over the shop and when they went in for the night he'd rape and pillage the village . Things didn't balance out till I let them all out to free range. I figure that the girls have more space to avoid him and he is finally learning to "play nice ". Give your little guy time to settle in, they usually work it out amongst themselves.
