Silkie thread!

Well I mean it just popped up out of no where.

Have you brought home any new chickens? Been around other people's chickens? Shows, swaps auctions you should shower change clothes, even feed stores you don't want to ware your same shoes into the coop. I hope Oxine works for you, great stuff to have around only need 1/8 tea per gallon spray your shoes with, and clean coop with.

Could it have been delayed?  It won't have a good heartbeat until the 18th day.  Earlier than that it is very difficult to see the movement - you have to leave it in a long time... much longer than is comfortable for me.

It was a few days after the float that it hatched. I love the float test but I wouldn't give up if you don't see them move.

So,..... this chick was pipping and zipping the right direction, now it has changed its course and has pipped in another spot, totally not where it should be. I wonder if I'm going to have to end up helping this one too. Why is it so confused?! I don't have the turner on this time.

I just helped out one too, it was half way zipped and i could hear it yelling and after seeing it hadn't done anything for a little while I helped it out, come to find out it hat turned itself upside down

It's doing okay now, tired but looks good. I am upset, I forgot to check the humidity this morningwhen they started hatching and all the water was dried up! I had my boyfriend add some since I only remembered when I was at work, and i added more when I got home. Humidity sems to be where it shoud be now but i'm hoping no one is shrink wrapped =( One egg is pipped but hasn't had any other movement.

see, I took it out earlier, and I'm wondering if now it is going to be stuck because of the humidity :( it isn't making noise. this one seems a bit passive. I had one do exactly like you mentioned last hatch. I ended up getting it out because it flipped in the egg and couldn't breathe!

Well I chipped off a small piece where the egg was pipped, and peeled back the membrane, and the chick is alive and moving and breathing but is just sitting there. I am also going to keep an eye on this black one I helped and leave it in the incubator for a while, it's legs look like they might be weird. I have one partridge sizzle in the brooder =D It's so cute! Not a perfect sizzle though, it has pink skin.

Hi,
I posted about a month ago that I had purchased two Silkies at the feed store
to keep a single hatched chick company....
I fell in love............................
love.gif

I sold them because I did not know anything about Silkies (and the gal that bought them begged me)
Anyway, could not get them off my mind...........

My little white silkie hatched out 6 blue laced red Wyandotte yesterday . I had to help one out and it's fine. Unfortunately with all the commotion , one had pipped , got rolled and died. Oh well she's very pleased with herself anyway.
Sheeshshe , I would get an atomizer and mist the remaining eggs with water.
