They definitely got their love of babysitting from their mom =) She's awesome too. My other silkies on the other hand aren't so gentle...Isn't that just the cutest thing? The babies are mothering the smaller babies! Silkies are wonderful!

Here's a link I found fascinating when I first learned about these neat Silkie-related birds: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/664348/the-sizzle-thread
If you haven't already, please post this information about the skin condition over there for other Sizzle/Frazzle owners, I am sure somebody else noticed problems but just didn't think to ask..
I have one silly Sizzle and I haven't noticed any problems with her skin, but she is the most skittish in the Silkie pen so I don't get to study her very closely. I do have one guess - and its only a guess - sunburn? Perhaps the dilution of the black skin gene that came from the cross made their now very exposed skin more sensitive to solar radiation? You mention it is in the exposed areas the most - although their feet look covered perhaps that is different than the red on the rest of their body. Since the feathers don't protect from sun - or wind - it could be any of those things...
She's like " What you want?!?" LOL!
