Silkie thread!

Thanks =) These aren't even my best ones! Yes one parent was a pure black silkie and the other was a partridge.

My hen did for a couple days but got bored of it lol

At the moment I only have an F2 generation sizzle hen, she is my only one until the babies grow out. I have a better black roo now so i'm hoping it will help the crest. My hen does not have a crest. 2 of the babies are starting to get a little mohawk though =)

No it's just the flash shining on their jet blackness =) I don't recall seeing darker stripes on them, I think that was just the flash again, it plays tricks on their coloring! I have a black silkie "pullet" who looks just like her blue "sister" when I use the flash but is clearly solid black in normal lighting

That is nice of you to let us know - but I don't think Silkies would do very well in the Phillipines, they don't like heat...  Perhaps if people have other breeds?

I also forgot to add in my above post that even though they are in an indoor brooder and not in contact with any other chickens, the babies are sneezing and a couple have clear liquid runny noses. All eating and drinking and playing just fine. Acting normally, just sneezing a lot. They have been excavating in their wood chips a lot lately. Maybe just dust? I have durymycin 10. Should I put them on it just in case? I don't like to medicate if I don't have to.

Sorry to hear their having trouble, I really hope it's not a respitory disease which can be brought in on clothes, shoes, anything in contact with other chickens. I would get rid of anything that could be making them sneeze or chemicals, sprays, perfumes? What kind of wood shavings are you using? Avoid cedar. I would fine mist Oxine around and above them lightly. 1/8 tea per gallon water.

That's an odd comment. Why is it fortunate to me that Oz' track record, etc., is well documented on BYC?

Because you can see exactly what he is doing over there as it is well documented on BYC and he has been doing it for years. Its not a scam, or an attempt to get something because of the disaster which only recently happened. He may be a slightly oddball character, but you can read his intentions from his story and you won't be plagued by uncertainty as to whether it is a scam or not or if people are going to get taken advantage of by sending him eggs. I consider that the fortunate part, peace of mind.

I'm sorry, I misinterpreted your comment. It felt as though you were threatening me. Forgive me for that. I have bullies on the brain today. My home town of Toronto has the ridiculous Mayor Rob Ford scandal playing out. That fiasco has made headlines on BBC, CNN, all the major comedy/talk shows and news networks right down to my local San Antonio news. Yesterday he walked up to another city councilor during a council meeting and it looked like a fist fight was about to break out. I am over reacting to any wording that sounds like remotely threatening. Again, sorry for jumping to the wrong conclusion.

And, truly, I am happy that Ozexpat is whom he says he is.
