I hold down aggressive chickens in myvflock. It does not hurt them, just bruises their ego it teaches them that you are the top "pecker" in the pecking order and helps keep the peace. I see nothing wrong with what you did, and I don't think you should feel bad, especially since Ichabod didn't go crazy homicidal on the roo who was being forced to submit.I understand what your saying. Ichabod my splash roo doesn't go in attack unless roman the partridge comes at him. I see roman always going to him. Ever since me doing that tho. They are all fine.
no fights. He also stopped running from him and looks relaxed.
I wouldn't of done this but I separate them and they can see each other and there face would be bloody from going in the fence. I don't have any plywood to separate so they can't peck each other.
they don't even interact. And are no longer fighting.
I hated to sound like I was being cruel but that was my only option. As my Ichabod isn't fertile I received this room from friend. I can't regime Ichabod as he is one of the best roosters I've had. Friendly wise. And I want some chicks from Lydia as she is 2 and not had any of her own.
sorry about he long rant lol
But keep a watchful eye, young roos will constantly try to test the waters...they are like the raptors from Jarassic park.
