Fancychooklady is both funny and patient with us!
Feeling pretty good about my babies new brooder set upI got them a lower watt bulb yesterday and today I picked them up a bigger brooder box. Now even more room, new light, and fresh bedding and the babies are looking pretty happy in their new home. I'll post a pic soon

If you mean , aggressive towards you. When my Jaffa gets a bit ' toey ' I pursue him and pick him up for cuddles. Carry him around all the while doing my chicken duties. When I'm finished I place him back with his girls. He avoids me like the plague now. It's not very masculine to be carried around in front of your ladies. You do need to be wary of offending the roo when you are around his girls. If you are lurking around trying to catch a hen , chances are the roo will try to defend them. After all that is his job !
how can i break my rooster silkie from being agressive he just started in the past few days????
Thanks, I like it much better and I think they do to!I'll take a pic tonight. The surviving babies are 9 days old now and seem to be doing great other then the baby that is still limping. But it makes me feel good seeing them in a much better setup. They look happy

I havent put any booties or splints on my limping chick yet. I know how to at least because I made some for the blue baby that ended up dying anyway that nightI haven't checked on previous posts. Did you get booties or shoes made for your limper? Or is he improving? He will always limp if the toes aren't splinted soon. Inquiring minds want to know![]()
I havent put any booties or splints on my limping chick yet. I know how to at least because I made some for the blue baby that ended up dying anyway that nightBut since she's only 9 days old im kinda afraid to do too much to overwhelm her. I am still questioning if I overwhelmed my blue baby, and thats what maybe dehydrated her faster or something, ill never know. I just dont want to risk it and would rather her focus on surviving and getting stronger. Im pretty confident I have time to fix her leg. Even if she limps for a month or so. I only say this because when I got my first silkie roo 12ys ago, he was given to me only because he was crippled and they didnt want him. I didnt care and was determined to help him walk. I made a homemade splint for both his legs and he was up and running in less then a week. He was several mths old when I remember doing this, and if it were not for that experience I would probably be more urgent about fixing my lil gals foot now, but I think I have time, and I would rather her get bigger and stronger first.
