Oh my gosh they are sooo cute! Did dixie look like those? I have a couple of my babies who look pretty fluffy on top and on their cheeks almost like these but not quite so fluffy
I got them from the sketchy breeder but at least their quality looks good. My guess is this black chick will have a little beard like her mom, though I have no idea if she'll get a decent crest or not. I really hope so
Very pretty baby.
I've heard this about the vaulted skulls, how some people still prefer them while others stay away and I understand why. I have two who have vaulted skulls who I seem to think will have the best crests and then two that are super fluffy but are not vaulted. And then there's the blue baby you gave me and my black baby that are just flat headed right now lol. Thats awesome to know that dixie has such a great crest without even being vaultedActually, Dixie did not have a vaulted skull. She just puffed up real good. A lot of folks are staying away from the vaulted skulls..they often don't do well after hatching, just had that happen in my last silkie hatch.Very pretty baby.
I bet my other babies could turn out pretty nice to then. I will have to take individual shots of all my other babies next and show you so you can see their quality and tell me what you think. They are all pretty fluffy except for like I said the black and the lil blue you gave me. I'll try to take more pics tomorrow or monday. They are getting so cute and fluffy now
Do you think its possible for my black chick to actually end up having a better crest then her mom? Or is it just genetic that whatever her mom has is pretty much what she'll be lucky to get.. ?Actually, Dixie did not have a vaulted skull. She just puffed up real good. A lot of folks are staying away from the vaulted skulls..they often don't do well after hatching, just had that happen in my last silkie hatch.Very pretty baby.
Best to keep them on starter till at least 6 weeks. It's important to keep an eye on protein and calcium levels.
It sounds more like an internal thing. I had one with a much larger swelling it one side at the back end. More likely to mushy chick syndrome . Don't over feed those babies.

This approx 6 week old pullet, I'm saying its a pullet cause I think she is, came from my 3 year silver partridge project. She was born with the correct color & markings. I just want a confirmation that she is indeed a silver partridge...I finally think, I also have a couple of boys....I've been searching and couldn't find any breeding boys, so made my own...![]()
