Lol that's Jaffa the kids call him ' tumor head '.

I had one that had a comb that did look more like a huge tumor. It didn't have any ridges in it like a walnut shaped comb just a blob in the middle of his face and it was ugly. If one looked past his comb he was a striking rooster but that comb was just pure plain butt ugly

I'm working on a silver partridge silkie pen. What I have so far are 2 silver partridge girls and a grey fella. They will be a year old soon but I"m getting eggs. I've hatched some and I'm getting mostly greys and just under the amount of greys are the silvers. My problem is I only have 1 surviving silver chick. The others died early some for reasons I had no idea and 2 had umbilical hernias. I suspect that was their demise. I got a couple yellow chicks and i'm hoping that changes when they feather out. This is how I got them
Grey silkie roo over white sizzle hen that had a few black feathers
I got a black pullet from them that has very light silver lacing on her hackle feathers.
I bred her to a white silkie roo and they produce the greys and silvers.
I took a grey from the first batch then a silver from another batch and another silver from another batch and put those 3 together. They are brother and sisters.



This one above was standing with wings down and tail down because she was wanting to lay an egg but she had an audience and was nervous.



This is my fella. He was not happy about being taken from his girls and me sticking a camera in his face.



This is the original roo I started out with and below is the hen. You can see the few black feathers she has here and there.

Below is the hen I used when I got all the greys and silvers and the roo is below her that i used. the hen is hard to tell if she is a she but the black one is the hen and of course you can tell the roo.


The original roo and hen also produced a smooth sizzle that was grey laced and a frizzled grey laced. Although many say it's impossible for a smooth sizzle to produce a frizzled offspring but the one I had did.

Does anybody have any imput on how I can get more silver partridge and less greys?

What egg candler brand would you guys recemmend ? Or could I just use a simple flash light? I'm new to incubating and want all the equipment I need first .. It would be appreciated.

I use one of those little led torches and the centre of the toile roll. Works well .

Anyone know what these are? Boys/girls. I know it's early but like everyone else I'm impatient. They are 9 weeks old.

My guess, the first one looks like a guy, and the second one looks like a gal. Pretty cute!
