Silkie thread!

Finally got some pictures of my 3 older babies. They are 7-almost 8 weeks old now. And all are getting in nice crests :)

The first one is the white pullet. At least I believe she is :)

Then there is the buff w/ the funky tall crest thats still filling out haha! I feel pretty sure she's a girl. What do you think?

And the last is my other white baby. This is the one I am thinking is a Roo, just going off of the shape of the crest, tail, comb, ect. The comb is wider then the pullet's but is still flat. I'd like to hope it's a girl but I have always felt roo on this one. What do you guys guess? I am probably going to have to sell this one.

these are really cute! I love the second buff one, its crest just sticks straight up

I'm donno what the second one would be but the two white ones look like pullets to me

I want to share a story with y'all!

I always passed this slimy green pond to and from town where I used to live. One day I decided to stop and tell the new owners how they could get rid of the green slime. I pull into the driveway and see this little boy playing basketball beside the garage! He walks over and I ask him if his parents are home. He says yes mame and goes inside. Out walks this very tall African male! I'm in a small car low to the ground! He bends way down to talk to me! I told him if he got some mallard ducks for his pond they would eat all that green slime off of it. Just like mine have done. He asks me if I knew of someone to get them from and I said yes! I give him my friends number, we exchange pleasantries and I leave. He was really nice, smiling a lot and thanked me too for the info.

Well the next day I get this call from my friend. He has a baby chick that hatched and it needs a momma! I had two silkie hens that had just hatched babies and I told him to bring it on over! While standing there talking he tells me this man came and bought 10 ducks from him. I said; "oh good"! Then he smiles and says; "You have NO idea who he was do you"? Nope! He starts laughing and tells me it was "Corliss Williamson"! The NBA Professional Basketball Player! I said; "Well no wonder he was grinning from ear to ear! He knew I didn't know who he was"! LOL

Just thought y'all would get a kick out of the story!

Great story! Did the pond clear up? ;)

ronkon: You can imagine my surprise when I found out who I had been talking to - HUH? I'm not into sports so that's why I didn't know who he was! LOL He had bought the place for his parents!
I moved out of the area before I knew the results of the pond slime. I did see the Mallards on it though!

That's a GREAT story! I used to work in an a position where I met a lot of famous people. They were so used to being fawned over, that when they came to me & I didn't treat them any different than anyone else (with the utmost of respect, but I don't tolerate divas) I usually had people trying to send me gifts, tickets, autographs, etc. I made it my ethics to not personally accept those things, but would donate them to a local children's hospital for use in their fundraising. Of course being a good Southern lady, I would send a handwritten thank you note explaining what I had done with the gift. The "celebrity" would usually take the hint and donate to the hospital directly from then on.

People just want to be treated normally and not have to worry about photographers, motives, and gossip columnists.

But back to chickens - I love all the silkie pics!!! I have silkie envy!!!!

rnchick! That was a really nice thing to do by donating the tickets.
I know the feeling of treating ppl the same!
I was a Sargent in the Army! I treated Enlisted and Officers the same!
We all put our pants on the same way!
I did give the Officers a lot more respect though!
I worked in the Officer Candidate School and seeing what they had to
do to earn those butter bars was horrendous!

I keep trying to talk my husband into getting a couple of silkie babies! He keeps responding with; "You better have a place to move to with them"!

I was enlisted, then became an officer in the military - I think that is where I learned my "protocol" for dealing with celebrities. When you are a medical professional, butts of 4 star generals and airmen all look the same! Same in the outside world...

Does anyone know where the lady posted her pic of her bathing her chicken and talked about trying to leash train her? I wanted to comment on it, but I can't find it!

I'm off now to wash Dorothy's poopy butt, give her the meds and change her box towel!
