I just bought this feather fixer. Is this what you are saying has the mite tech? I threw out the bag already. It sounds great. Do you use the scratch mixed with the grain? Or just as a treat?
I'd like to try this. Haven't looked at your link yet, but every other link I ever saw gave a recipe for like 50 birds. I only have five. Still would like yo try.
Me too. I saw someone puts seeds in a mason jar for a week to sprout. But not sure where I saw that link.
What a great project for 4-H! When I was getting started I downloaded the Chickens for Dummies book on my Kindle and it helped tremendously. Best silkie specific advice I can give you is they eat regular layer feed but love treats like left over veggies and fruits. Be careful if they are all white though-some foods can stain them and they'll need a bath soon after eating (like watermelon).
bring it inside, give it a bath in warm water, like 90 degrees, blow dry, feel for any broken bones or open skin. Wetting the feathers helps do this, IMO cos you can see to the skin.Think my 7 week old silkie baby was jumped on by a large roo.He seems hur but i cant find any damage.t.Got out of thr run...Found it standing head buried in his feather.sPut it back in the run its just standing there.still. not moving. Can i do anything to help it?
