I grow lamb's quarter (a weed by any other name) for mine, as they like it and it contains over 300 mg of calcium per 1/2 cup serving.

Too much calcium is just as detrimental to your chickens As a shortfall is. Once you've seen your first case of gout you will understand.
Hens will only take the calcium if it is needed. If it is in the feed and you have a mixed flock , they get no say in it.

Oh yeah I forgot to add that. I get the large bags of oyster shell at the feed store.And it's only 1.3% calcium, so be sure to give calcium ' add lib ' for your laying hens.
