Silkie thread!

I
So all my chickies 4weeks-6mths and are all outside together now and the days are getting super hot. Its been like 98 degrees the last few days. I have put a huge tarp covering their entire run for shade and they always have water. They are always panting everytime I go check on them. Should I be concerned of heat stroke or anything or is this just a normal thing for chickies in summer? Anything I could do to make them more comfortable, or are they fine?

If only you lived in Australia! I've got 4 girls, as of this afternoon on 30 eggs and heaps more fertile ones not being sat on!

Hey everyone! Ik this doesn't have much to do with silkies but ik this is a popular thread so I need your opinions! I'm thinking bout buying some chicks from ideal poultry, leaning towards buying some polish but have you guys gotten good chicks from there?

thanks in advance!!!!!!
I ordered from ideal poultry. It's a good hatchery! They do add a lot of extra roos though.

Yeah that was one thing that made me nervous about ordering, I didn't want a ton of roos!

But oh well! I ordered 4 assorted polish, 4 assorted cochins, 3 assorted sebrights, and 3 assorted d'uccles. I couldn't decide on any colors so I got the assortments!

Quote: Well on my order me and some friends ordered 6 silkies and 3 LF chicks. One of the Silkies didn't survive shipping, but I live in MN so that's kinda far away from Texas. 9 chicks total and they sent 10 extra roos, I raised 4 of them and just found a new home for them a week ago. My chicks are 10 weeks old today so I kept those roos for awhile.
So they shouldn't add THAT many roos.
