Silkie thread!

I have four silkies around 16 weeks old.  I am thinking three roos and one hen.  But I have had the conversation with them, if they behave, they can stay...hope they are listening..

I hate to be the one to tell you this but your poor little hen will be oversexed and more than likely spend her days hiding once they mature. The only way to keep them in that ratio is to pen them separately .

Here's my silkie at 6.5 weeks old. Will I be able to see anything at this age to determine sex? Give me your opinions on her, Thanks!

I think its a roo. It has a very cocky stance.

I know, if I am right, that some may have to go. So far, I only KNOW one is a roo, he has the comb and wattles to prove it. I know the one is a hen, just waiting for the other two to let me know what they are. They are in a mixed flock, so Lemon (my silkie hen) shouldn't be too harassed.

If you have other hens things will balance out. :)

I had that conversation with them to no avail.
Unfortunately three of them are absolute knuckleheads who sometimes try to bite.
They get their own smaller run and if I didn't have an aversion to really dark meat, we would have eaten them.
One of the other two is separated from those on his own and one gets to hang out in the big run with three buff orp pullets and one bo roo.
He's the mildest one of all, is really sweet and acts how I would have imagined silkies would act.
I really love the breed, but I hate that we never got to have a pullet.
My biggest hopes are now with the buffs.
