Silkie thread!

I was just thinking how much he reminded me of my Jaffa.

Although I must say his legs conjure up memories of Alf.

I can see the similarities! What color/pattern would you say Jaffa is? I hadn't ever seen a silkie with buff coloring and black/green tail feathers. So wild looking!

Hi fellow silkie lovers!

I want a white and a splash but if they don't have splash I'm getting a buff!
Wish me luck that I can get all pullets!!!!!

Hi there I hope someone can give me some advice. I got a chicken family 2 weeks ago. It is a Silkie mom and dad and their 6 (adopted)chicks. The lady I got them from told me the Silkie rooster was picked on by her other roosters and some times falls over. So for the last two weeks he's been slow moving but otherwise hes alright, he's been eating and drinking. Well yesterday my son found him on his side and he couldn't get up. We brought him in and gave him some homemade electrolites he seemed a little better today so my daughter and I decided to bathe him and see if we could tell what's wrong. With him being wet we can now see his right wing is limp and upon inspection we see a small wound and there is tiny bugs around it. I'm not sure what to do next? Any advice?

Are they little red bugs???

Jaffa is a red partridge . He had the wind in his pants that day.

I don't know. That seems strange for a small wound to make him no be able to get up. I would guess he could've gotten the wound because of falling over so much or other chickens stepping on him or something. Sorry it's hard to know what to suggest. If the wound looks open and yucky you can spray on the silver spray for small animal wounds and that helps it sort of like a bandaid, helps it heal faster. Are you sure the bugs aren't maggots? If the wound is open they usually end up with that happening. Our turkey had a major wound with maggots (dog attack) but healed up fine after I put on the silver spray. It was a huge open wound
