Silkie thread!

Here is Tuna. I think a lavender but could turn out to be a splash. Along with Little Marbles, is my favorite. I am crossing my fingers for a pullet as well. Outdoor shots she is 2.5 months old. Indoor shots was 2 weeks earlier.

Ok, so I haven't read all 4985 pages of this thread...but did get thru a bunch last night...where did the time go? LOL

Anyway, I have 6 silkies about 13 weeks old. I would like to get some more. I have found someone that has ones about a year old, which I like because I could get splash and white and would be able to just get females. The other option is someone that has chicks 1-4 weeks old, they have splash but no white and I wouldn't know if I was getting males or females.

I'm thinking of adding 4-6, which option do you think would be the best way to go as far as integrating them to living in the same coop.

Love all the pics, you guys have some really beautiful birds. I'll post some pics of mine soon.

Blipit007 you have very beautiful silkies!!!!
I just got 2 chicks yesterday from my local feed store. I was hoping for a splash and a white but I didn't see any splash but they had a few unuseual colors I hadn't seen before. I think I ended up with a white and a possible porcelein or lavendar. Idk the chick is a light gray color with a pale blue tint. Don't thinks a blue not dark enough don't think it's a splash not enough yellow. I will post pics later maybe y'all can tell me. But very lively silkies you have !!!!

Meet Beans. This is Tuna's hatchmate. And she is huge! She is a beautiful splash but Im thinking Beans is a boy... Her comb is redder, and she is just bigger then the rest.

Here is a photo of Pickles comb. It got mixed up in Beans file... What do you think?? Thanks for the compliment. I love them all, but cant keep all the boys...

Something peculiar about this hatch. The 2x cockerels have naked faces.

I have a black roo that is just like that.

Here is the pretty blond with no comb. She and Little Marbles are the only 2 that I am pretty sure are girls so far. They both have not comb and are very small. She has no name, so any suggestions are welcome.

Does anyone know how Silkies do in winter in southwestern Missouri?
I have Sam and 10 chicks of varying ages and I wanted them for their broodiness. All of a sudden everyone is preparing for winter and it hit me that I don't know how hardy Silkies are for the winter here.

Anyone know?
