Silkie thread!

Check out this little "guy". Pretty sure I've got a roo. Only 2.5 weeks old.

My eggs are popping like popcorn. I've been getting a lot that look like this:

It may be hard to see in the pics, but they are yellow underneath. Mixed with the blue, they look sort of khaki all over. Any thoughts as to possibly colors?

I've had porcelain come from that look as well as a smutty looking white

I have four chicks that resemble this one, and in the two weeks I have had them I have run the gambit of trying to decide their color (I do not know there parentage). The colors I have come up with that they could possibly be are all those mentioned, porcelain (but no stripe down back), blue or blue cream, and splash. I have other splash chicks that don't look like this, but have seen pictures of some that do. They do have tiny white feathers coming through, so sounds more like they will be splash....maybe blue splash.. Very cute no matter what color they become

I had a silkie question a few pages back. Would someone mind looking at it? It's a silkie roo
I went back and took a second look. If his primary and secondary wing feathers are smooth, he is a silkie cross. He appears to be possibly hatchery stock from what I have seen locally but if he throws better offspring than himself, he would be a keeper. I have a partridge hen that is a real poor example of a silkie in general. Her crest and cushion are lacking like your male. She doesn't have good foot feathering and she is small. But her babies are gorgeous so I keep her in the partridge pen for now. If you like him and you like what he produces, that is what counts.
