Silkie thread!

Fixing these toes is crucial in the first 24 hours while they are soft cartilage. I've never tried with older than day old chicks. An hours old chick with the band-aid treatment.
I tried as soon as she was born but she had curled feet that set too far apart. With the taping to help with the spraddle she couldn't stay on her feet with them taped as well. She will be a week tomorrow. At least she is much improved. Contiplated putting her down at first. I just didn't think I could get those curled of feet to straighten out. Sure glad I didn't

I have had success with taping week old chicks.

How soon can you tell bearded silkies gender? I have 7 (sorry cant post pics) the oldest are 3 months the youngest is 6 weeks and honestly I cant tell what gender any are. 2 have straight combs instead of walnut combs. 3 out of 7 have roo personalities. I've seen them bicker with other roos I have, I've seen sparing, neck flaring. None have tried to crow, I have several bantam roos crowing but nothing from the silkies. Also cant see wattles on any of them. One of my oldest has a puffier comb I think a boy and I think both with straight combs are boys but I have no idea with the other 4. Could someone post pics of young pullets and cockerels? I'm stumped with mine
