This Cuckoo chick is the rarest color in my flock. So pretty. Whether it is female or male, it will go into an all black pen.

Gorgeous birds! I'd bet your Cuckoo is female. Since the Barring gene messes with dark skin color the boys seem to get bright red combs really early. I have two Cuckoo Sizzles in my brooder right now, same size as yours, and I'm like 90% sure they are both cockerels - gigantic red combs already!New grow out pic's of a few of my current favorite kids.Photo bomb by a squashy face baby.

As far as I know that is impossible. The Silkie gene is recessive, you could never get a smooth feather chick from two Silkied parents. Unless you mean one of the parents was also a Smooth Silkie?
I have had 2 smooth silkies hatch from Silkie parents . Both were pure white and crested.
