I'm so excited one of my silkie chicks is starting to get some feathers on the head.

Do they need to be separated from the other chicks?
I'm getting two cochins and 4 mysteries with them. The mysteries could include polish and saipan jungle fowl.

If you intend keeping them together once they have matured, it is best to raise them together. Gives you a much better chance of harmony in the flock.

How long do u keep ponytails in?

If you have no intention of showing, you can lightly trim above the eyes. You can also get the small bands used for plaiting up show horses at your local equine supply store. They are quick and easy to use.

Thank you! I don't show, I was just thinking of helping their eye sight, I think I could do trimming, I did see videos on that, and the same youtuber had ponytails in her silkies. She didn't say much about how long I could put leave them in (decided to ask you guys)

Oh that's fine, some people trim to give them better vision, but that's a real ' no no ' in the show ring.
I have some with big bonnets and some none bearded with smaller bonnets and the ones that can see are much more confident birds.

I would only keep them in a week tops as it says in the video she says she don't like to let it in much longer than that and she lets them go without it for a while probably and then put in another one
