Keep in mind that the beak method isn't 100% accurate. At least, it hasn't been for me!

Well, it's worth a shot to try and or keep track of how accurate it is. I've said it before but we were so eggcited to get silkies and 4 out of were georgous boys we couldn't keep. Now that wouldn't be a huge issue except we need more girls

Oh, it'll be a fun experiment for sure! And you know it'll be right about 50% of the time anyway

As long as you apply the brace early there is a high rate of success. Glad that you caught it in time. Lucky chickee.

Yes, we were elated, especially since we had to put down one its siblings for more serious issues. He just needed a little support til he got full strength.

How old do silkies have to be before they can go outside? Or how warm does it have to be outside during the night?
I have 6- 1 month old chicks and 2- 3 week old chicks. i am going to take them out in the sun for a short bit today. But was wondering how old when they can stay out. They still seem so small it seems like it will be at least a few more weeks....
I have only had regular size chicks.. They are my first bantam breed so they seem so tiny!

I wouldn't put them outside until they are at least two or three months but it would have to be at least 60 degrees if u ask me but I wouldn't go any lower than 50

Mine go out between 4-8 weeks old depending on the weather and how many there are (if I have a bunch, I put them out a little early, they huddle to keep warm)
