Silkie thread!

When I started my cuckoo sizzle line I used a couple birds with DQs because that was all I had. After that I only used birds with no DQs or the best I had/could get and I haven't had anything pop up since. Not saying it wouldn't happen, just be smart with your choices.

Ok now roo's eye is swollen from his comb keeping the moisture.. I used bandages and they fall out so last night I used duck tape!!! He is so happy he can see an this morning it was looking better but the chickens are pecking at him...

I would not recommend that. If you reinforce the single combs, they'll start to pop up a lot more and they'll be hard to get rid of. If you only have 1 rooster, he obviously carries the recessive trait for single combs. Some (or maybe all) of your hens carry it too. I would get rid of your rooster and bring in a new one. That should halt the single combs (as long as your new roo doesn't carry it as well) and would be much easier than test breeding to figure which hens are carrying them.

Ok thank you very much

With any injury it's always a risk to leave the injured bird in the flock. I've seen eyes pecked out.
I would put Terramycin drops or ointment in the eye to help it heal quicker and create a " sick bay ' for him. Even chlorsig , if you have any in your bathroom cabinet, will help.

its not injured its because his comb Is over it so it's always covered!!! idk if there is a way to train the comp to stand up that doesn't stand out..

If the eye is swollen it is an injury, doesn't really matter how it occurred . Terramycin is an antibiotic and will help it heal. The other members in the flock will peck at it and make it worse, hence the need for quarantine.
