@QueenMisha
I did notice jade was a bit feisty (not sure if spelled right) today (she was pecking my fingers, but not that hard) Here is jade:

Male or female?
Do male silkies crow just as loudly as any other chicken? I'm hoping their not male because if they are and they start crowing loudly our neighbors might start complaining about the noise![]()
Since silkies have black combs instead of red 2 hat indicates they are about to lay?
My pullet, Bob has been VERY noisy,long low pitched "raaw".
She's been like that since my cochin rooster mounted her.
Thank you QueenMisha! I hope she does!No way to tell. The dark skin (and resulting comb) is part of the reason Silkies are hard to sex as well. The sound she's making is a good sign, only mature hens will make a noise like that. She may be ready to lay soon.
yay! i know, i love buff too, i was so glad when i started to see the buff color come in when they were very youngLooks like you lucked out, those both appear to be pullets! Gorgeous too. Buff is my favorite color of Silkie; probably because of my girl, Taylor.
Given that those look like nice quality, I wouldn't be surprised if they take quite a while to start laying. It seems like some of the nicest ones take the longest to lay.
@RavynFallen
Here is an updated pic of the chick out in the light.

I agree the it looks a light blue but it has splashes of yellow and then a dark spot on its head. Either way I'm happy with blue or splash. Just not good at being patient lol. Thanks for your help.![]()
I'd agree with RavynFallen. Looks like a splash. I have several hatched this week. They do change considerably as they ' feather out ' .
