Hello, I am a new Silkie Mom as of today. I've done lots of research but still can't tell/decide if two of my silkies are Males or not. The lady I got them from said they were hatched April 8th of this year (4-08-16). I feel like at least one is but still not sure. The lady I got them from said they were all female but I know she was trying to get rid of 2 males as well. Kind of thinking she may have sent a male or two with me because she knew I was new to being a chicken mama. Either way they will have a good home, just would like to know if they are males or not. This one is a little bit larger than the rest. The other one that I think could be a male looks very similar to this one but a little smaller. Thanks!

This is what the rest (the ones I believe are females) look like this

I answered your other post in the introduction forum, but now with a photo of a female for comparison, I'm definitely going with cockerel.

The first one is a cock, the second one could very well be a pullet (female) but with silkies, you can't really be positive till you get an egg or a crow
lovely birds

I would lean towards cockerel in the first pic.

We've had so much rain here , high winds and flooding . A tree limb went through the middle of one of my coops. Now we all know how determined silkies are but check this SLW broody out. :D

Oh wow! That is a determined broody. Yikes, where are you gonna put the flock while you repair the coop? Hope ya'll stay safe out there!

Everyone survived, but because it was so wild I literally slung some food onto the pens and locked everyone up. Missed the hatched chicks and by the time I found them 48 hrs later they were very hungry and thirsty.
As luck would have it hubby's work just received shipment of a new hyperbaric chamber from the States and the crate it came in is going to make a very nice coop.
