Silkie thread!

Here are my remaining 2 silkies again. I don't notice the hackle and saddle feathers on my white one like I did on my rooster. The comb is a bit thicker than the one I believe to be a hen but nothing like the roo. Could my white one possibly be a hen??

If your remaining white is a roo he'll over-mate the single female. Get a 2nd female for him or re-home him with the other roo. In any event if you keep the single female then she'll need another pullet companion. Silkies tend to stick together even if they aren't best buddies.

Just had my first ever silkies hatch tonight from some shipped eggs

Any idea what color the chick in the last 2 pics will be when it matures? Complete newbie to silkies and their colorings. Is this a splash?

Chipmunk brown stripe on the back is usually a Partridge and there are so many shades/colors of Partridge nowadays. Such cutie babies!

All chickens are individuals with some being shy, while others are outgoing. A flock's breed dynamics can sometimes turn shy birds into assertive birds while other dynamics can make a peaceful coexistence. My best flock mix was 2 Silkies, a Breda, and a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana and then sadly lost our Ameraucana and Breda this year. Back to the drawing board to develop a good mix for a new flock again. So far we still have the 2 older Silkies, still growing out a new docile Breda pullet, and hope to add a Dominique in the Spring - had a Dom before and liked her so want to try again. Love the EEs and Amer's for their gentleness but our humid SoCal climate is terrible for these lovely heavily under-downed birds. So sad to have to re-home Silkie roos because they can be so sweet. Hope yours is ok in his new home and not bullied too much for being a little guy. We had to re-home a Silkie roo at 6 months and kept his sister. She was alone as the only Silkie so we got another pullet Silkie to toodle around with her. To this day they are not what I would call best buddies but they do tend to hang out together.
It was sad rehoming him but the testosterone had definitely set in. He had started getting very protective of the hen and would chase myself and my 2 young boys around the yard. I would love to get another silkie hen but they are hard to come by where I live. I had to drive 5 hours to get the 3 I had and it looks like 2 of them will end up being roosters:/. Your girls are beautiful!!

reloaded pictures, sorry for repeat. Silkie Blue egg on left from silkie? egg on right is australrop (sp?) EE or ? possible braham Hopefully these pictures come up. sorry if repeated. Learning this sight on posting.
Your silkie is definitely a roo based on color alone and a partridge with a dark head , I would say the hen in question laid the egg and it's hard to tell from pic but she looks like maybe a Wyandotte? Brahma have feathered legs and are very tall and large I have had several different breeds lay speckled eggs not that uncommon :)

is number 4 loulou possibly a frizzled silkie?

I've had a number of what I thought were silver partridges only for them to turn into brown in the end.

Must learn to do a proper photo shoot like u have done there. Now to find a way to make my chickens sit still for photo shoots...

Trying to find pics of my partridges as babies.

I asked earlier about Loulou's crest feathers curling forward like that, the response was that it it just due to the pin feathers. Since that is the only area showing any curling I'm just going to watch and see how it turns out. Between that and the odd very light cuckoo coloring, I'm very curious to see how it turns out.
At this stage all of their crests are pretty different looking, except the two gray colored partidges. It wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if they turn brown, as that is what I was actually after.

As far as 'proper photo shoot'... LOL
It was my first go at it. That is a teal/blue baby sheet syretched over a folding chair. The chicks did not sit still. I deleted lots of pics. Maybe that's the trick... Just keep shooting until you get a few good ones, then crop.

PRECIOUS pictures! Thanks so much for sharing! Your little girl is soo cute! She put a smile on my face! I have to add that the flowers are very beautiful too! Aren't God's creations so amazing?!

Just getting back on this site. Yes! God gives us plenty to be thankful for. Thank you for the nice compliments!
