Silkie thread!

Hello all Silkie parents!
I'm in need of some advice again.
So one of my 2 day old peeps, now 4 days old, gave me a scare the other night. Found her by herself with what appears to have been wry neck. Kept her inside, with my excellent hen to keep her warm. Treated her for 2 days with Vit E, electrolytes in her water and warm mash mixed with applesauce. She is almost 100% so I brought her and the hen back to the coop. I know the longer they're away the harder it is for them. It was a bit ugly at first but I'm happy to say they've all been out in their run all day and everyone is fat and happy. The peep that's recovering doesn't have as full of a crop as rhe other 5, but she is eating and holding her own.
I would like to keep them both in the coop overnight and see how she does. Do y'all think this is a good idea???? I'm still treating her, I just don't want them to have to start over again tomorrow. My other mom hen keeps pecking her. Don't know if I'm being overprotective. Any advice is GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thank you!!:frow

A NOTE TO ADD TO MY PREVIOUS POST....
The longer I sit here watching them the more I've seen Mom #2, 2 hens shared sitting and hatching, really pecking at my recovering peep! I was ready to knock her into next week, but just pushed her aside. Maybe I should take her out for a day or 2! ANY ADVICE???? HELP!

I would start with a few days of supervised visits. They can tell when one is weak and will peck on her.

Ok question for everyone. I have 2 silkies that are currently being housed with 6 ducklings and 6 young pullets. I know normally have no problems being housed with large fowl and mine don't even seem to mind the 4 week old ducks. But, it's about time to start integration process and realized I have to consider my roo...not just any roo, but a pretty large light Brahma roo. He is a very good boy, and as of now my silkies seem to be girls, but am worried about him trying to mate the silkies and hurting them due to his size. I'm really wanting to know if anyone has experience in this area as I would like for silkies to have more flock mates than just the 2 of em, but not sure they could handle the big roo. So do I just need to make separate area for them or am I just being too protective?

This is our first video, we are just here to share our experience with raising our silkie chicks at the fuzzy animal farm.

The coop we have in this video was ordered from here

We got our (14) chicks the first week of May 2017 from a woman in berkley MA, and currently outfitting the coop for our chicks to move in with in the next week.

My next step is to put the floor down. I used a water based latex high gloss paint on the walls, the brand is EZPOXY. This paint is normally used for marine situations but worked well for this coop, low voc and it had low oder when applying. When I am washing out the coop it will protect the wood and keep things simple. I am going to apply blackjack #57 on the coop floor, to be continued!

Any suggestions or comments welcomed! Cheers!

We have blackjack on the floors too! Its great

I am curious what everyone's experience is. My big Roos didn't try to mate with my tiny Bantam hens. They were free range back then and there were plenty large fowl hens, maybe that's why.

Out of 13 there are 2 silkies and the roo...rest are large fowl. So he will have 10 girls to himself....plus all my ducks and 2 guineas. I'm mainly worried about coop and times they can't be totally free ranged as he is a young roo and definitely hormonal. He thinks the ducks are his girls too...much to the dismay of Drake's...lol. My ducks are all cooped separate from chickens but share run and free range time. I do lock all in at night for protection and it's during this time and morning I worry mostly. They will be able to keep away from him while free ranging as it's 10 acres, but maybe not in run or coop. He's pretty big already and would squash a lil silkie if he was determined to mate her.

My growing silkie flock, I also have 5 3 month olds who the rooster also watches over, alternating between the hen and her babies and the 3 month olds. The 3 month olds prefer to avoid the hen as she only allows me, my dad and the rooster near the chicks and attacks literally everything else! :lau Good thing the yard is large and has two separate parts.
