Thanks for your reply Wow, silver partridge....that sounds pretty. Must now go Google that colour to see what it looks like. There is one chick, don't know if it shows up well, that has a buff look, perhaps that might be a buff patridge (2nd photo)?

Hi I’m pretty unfamiliar with the colours of silkie and I’ve been told that this boy is grey and a series of other colours.... any ideas?

Here is a good thread on cuckoo Silkie. The barring gene causes the light skin. It is a very difficult color to work with. Hi everyone, I'm so happy to have found this thread!

I have a flock of RIRs for the past 4 years and I'm currently researching silkies

After reading this silkie chicken guide, it said that they struggle in rainy climates, is this true?

I haven't heard this before but living in Seattle it has me worried. Any advice!?

I think it may say that because their feathers do not repel water like regular chicken feathers. The only time it is an issue is when its cold out. If you have a covered run for them at that time there should be no issues.
