Silkie thread!

I use nutrena feather fixer (a little high on calcium) mixed with all flock or poulin grain 20% gamebird grower. In the morning I add hot water to chick crumble to make a mash. Silkies aren’t a production breed and I always have boys and non layers so I’m careful about feed with high calcium. I always have grit and oyster shells available but I started the alfalfa and feather fixer when I got Seramas because I was afraid they couldn’t eat the oyster shells. Treats are only a few times a week and they are sprouted grains, scrambled eggs with herbs or alfalfa. On nights we are going below zero they get 5 grain scratch before dark but that is very infrequent.

Went to the Newman GA show and bought this pair of Silkies.Hen,Blue Cream, roo Lavender based blue. If bread what will I get? Need to change paper they're in quarantine right now.

Two weeks from today, I’m getting my paint and splash Silkie chicks! :love With them will be another paint as well as a frizzled paint. I’m only going to keep two but there is a 4 chick minimum from Tropical Chickies. So, I’m looking for a loving home to send the other two Silkies to. I’m located in Panama City Beach, FL if anyone is interested please just let me know!

The two with the arrows pointed at them are the two I’m keeping, the other two I’m selling. The fully grown paint and splash hens are Tropical Chickies beautiful birds!

At about what age do Silkies stop laying? I have one about 4 yr old. She is still broody at times. And is a great mama.

I have a 7 year old that is laying 3 eggs a week. She's one of my go to broodies as she will take chicks at any time after she starts sitting.
