Thanks, y'all! I am so pleased with these babies. Not only are they beautiful, they are as sweet as can be! There are two more girls (Sweet Pea and Petunia), but in pictures they pretty much look like Pumpkin.
Basil at the moment has the better body type, but Sage's coloring is darker. I'm waiting to see what he looks like when his top knot grows in completely. He still has a lot of pin feathers on his head. One of them will get to be the breeding roo and the other will go into the banty pen to be the spare.
Nobody is laying yet, but everybody is squatting when petted and the boys are crowing (although it's quite pitiful
). I will get their new house finished tonight and will make the grand move. The new house has a nestbox (as opposed to the grow out coop they are in currently). Hopefully we will figure out what to do soon! I'm dying to get buff eggs!
Sundown- were you the buff owner that I agreed to trade eggs with? I can't remember now. I'm getting old and forgetful.
Who did you get your original line of buffs from? Pumpkin is the look I'm breeding for. Light color, good top pouf and all over tight and fluffy.
I'm taking the plunge for the first time to have eggs shipped and hatch them. I'm getting some from Sundown Silkies...Ooooohh they are Soooo pretty! I would love to have some of Pumpkin's extra eggs someday when she's old enough. Let me know when that time arrives. Until then I will be mother hen to Sundown's babies.
P.S. I like Basil best of the two roos...but then again, I'm wanting light colored buffs.
Whenever your girls start let me know. Im waiting on my young pullets I hatched out last year to start. There around 7 months now. I did find a pullet egg in the coop the other day, with some blood on it, but nothing since. Wonder who it was.
Im just hatched out 9 babies yesterday. There looking good. I also put in a dozen on wednesday, and candled today and all are growing.
Im using two new boys this year. One is from Sassy Silkies, that I hatched out last May, hes paired with the hens I used last year. And so far the chicks hatching out look great from him. Then im using a Sassy Silkie hen (also hatched last May) paired with a nice boy I hatched last year. Cant wait to see what she produces with him.
I have a pretty roo that looks like sage and basil but darker and I don't think he has as much white either. He is in the coop by himself right now because he was being mean too a younger chicken that I have decided today is a Roo too but my white Roo doesn't bother the black one like copper boy did. Beautiful silkies you have
Ok my Chick-N-Law, I took some pics but they didn't turn out to good. I tried to make them lighter
but they still stink, but for now I wanted to at least give you a little look.
These are the wonderful babies from Vickie!! I am proud to say that I have some
of the first babies from her roo Horatio!!
