Silkie thread!

I'm under the impression that all Silkies should have combs as dark as you can get 'em but I'd wait on that...

Yes, you want the comb as dark as you can get it. This male has a very nice color to his comb. I believe he was probably around 6-7 months in the picture.

WOW! What a beautiful boy! You have the best buffs!

I am new to Silkies. Does anyone know the best time or way to take a photo of them? Some one this site look as if the Silkie is posing. Thanks Aria

Sheer luck!

and numbers (of photos)

Think of it as being like raising chicks from show quality parents. For every X number of chicks produced, maybe 1 will be a knockout. Same with photos.

Lots and lots of pictures, and the more you handle them the calmer they are. It seems like whenever I win anything and go to take pictures at a show, the bird decides it's time to take a dust bath in the shavings.

When I take them out to pose I will put a hand in front of them to get them to stay in one spot, and sit back further to show off the s-shape neck.

There are some birds that always look like they are posing. I have one black female that is drop dead gorgeous typewise, but I can't show her as she had a brooder accident and lost part of one toe. I have a blue hen that is also very tight and typey looking,.. and takes better photographs.

Not sure what color she is, I have been told she was a washed out buff a Calico buff and just a plain mixed colored silkie she is beautiful!
