Truth is she does...LOL Their is a white roo in the pen next to her they look at each other all day...LOL

Awww star crossed lovers....

Thanks for the info! We "came upon" the 2 silkies so I snapped them up from someone local looking to get rid of silkies so she could explore other breeds. I really wanted a white silkie so maybe add to "our girls" one day;
but it was heart wrenching the first day we put them together (we did the month of see but no touch and for the last week put them into the coop in a wire dog crate at night but seperate runs during the day).
They are all laying now again that they have the pecking order worked out!

Just a warning though it might take you a couple of days to get here so pack a cooler with snacks

I seem to live in a no mans land as far as BYC'ers and silkies go!

Just got my Silkie babies yesterday and was wondering if you could help with color and if you know if they would be bearded or not?

They are hatchery chicks from TSC. It's a long story, and that's another post...

They are bantams. They are so adoreable and we are enjoying them immensely. Thanks for your help!!

They kinda look like buff to me... But maybe (probably) white instead since whites hatch a yellowish color frequently. Lighting is tricky with showing a color online. Give them a week or so and they will start feathering out and you'll be able to tell easier.
Also in case you wanted to know (and also I'm bored and feel like talking lol) the vast majority of silkies here in the states are bantams it's the standard here you won't usually see them sold as a standard size unless you're talking about imports I'm guessing. Although I've seen rather large silkies the standard calls for around 28-32 oz (that's including juveniles as well as adults) I can't really tell but they look bearded from the pictures. I also haven't had any non bearded chicks so yeah I'm not a good one to answer that...

I'm sure they are going to bring you untold amount of joy and amusement! Silkies are such an amazing breed I'm sure everyone here on this thread would agree

Tell your story! I like stories, how many did you get??

I've seen you post this chickie before can't remember if you mentioned it but what breeding did it come from?

Black Lavender split roo and the hen is questionable. There are splash, black and blue in that pen the egg came from.

Ok gang, today is day 22 on my silkie eggs, nine chicks so far......13 were not fertile and all the rest are just sitting there, no peep holes....this was all from 36 eggs....:)Should I leave them one more day to see if something happens?

I was wondering if they were white or buff. I'm thinking white too, but some are quite yellow, time will tell.

I had went to TSC for shavings for horses, and just browsed the chicks, truly not intending to purchase any, as I was satisfied with what I had at home. But when I seen the Silkies were sharing a bin with duckilings, partitioned by cardboard, sharing a brooder lamp (which the ducks got most of), and standing on wet shavings, I couldn't leave them there. They just arrived that day and were tired, stressed and wanting to, but unable to lay down because the warmth of the lamp was negated by the wet of the shavings. The ducklings waterer was next to the lamp, leaking over to the Silkie side because the ducks were in the water. So I bought all 26. I couldn't leave any behind. (My TSC isn't the greatest at chick care). So here they are.

Thank you for your thoughts on their color, I was just purely curious.

Congrats on the chicks! I usually leave the hatched chicks in the incubator for about 3 days also giving the others time to start hatching without messing with the humidity by opening it. So yeah I'd suggest giving the other eggs extra time to start their hatching. Before giving up I usually candle then do a float test then open the ones that aren't moving to see what happened
