Are you planning on banding the birds you pullorum test? If so, your better off with the Atlas Seal 305 bands. You can get them here http://www.nationalband.com/nbtpoult.htm You'll need an applicator also. Cheapest place i've found. Thats the kind of bands the NPIP testers put on the birds here in NY. I just placed an order with them this weekend, I got the atlas seal 305 adjustable bands, which can be adjusted to sizes 9, 11 and 13. Incase you have a thick male leg. And you can get them in 6 different colors.

I have used the plastic numbered bandettes on my silkies, but the numbers on last so long.

The pullorum test box is basically just a piece of glass squared off in little 1x1 sections to keep the blood seperate.

I think you can get the zip ties at walmart or TSC. The only thing I don't like is they can get tighter on their own unless notch the zip tie so it can't get tighter and they don't have numbers. I like numbered bands better, so each individual bird gets their own number.

This is what my records for chicks look like. Once they get moved into breeding pens each bird gets their own sheet with all their info on it, show wins, quality of chicks produced, etc.

ive never had them get tighter ive had adault bird have theres on for years

I just hatched some silkies from a pair of my whites and a pair of blue/lav splits.

Question is, I had a chipmunk colored one hatch from blue/lav split silkies. What color is this supposed to be? I did not mix my whites with the splits, so I am confused as to why I had this strange color hatch. Anyone know what this is?

2nd question is my white's are coming out with more of a yellow looking leg/foot. I don't understand this either because my white pair has blue legs and feet. Will the leg color change over time.

Any thoughts??

What color do they turn out to be? My blue/lav splits are supposed to hatch 50% lav, 25% blue, and 25% blue/lav split...at least that was what I was told when I bought them. I'm confused!!
